Echlo aka Chloe Charles, Toronto’s renowned multi-genre musician releases the new single "My Child" produced by Andrew Grant (breathe) from her highly anticipated forthcoming album I Was I. Splitting her time between Mexico and Toronto, Echlo - the stepsister of Julian Lennon, and daughter of the late famous Caribbean and European nightclub impresario Noel Charles - whose previous work has been lauded in Billboard, Rolling Stone, BBC, The Times (London), Glamour (France), VICE, Mojo (UK), Elle (Germany), Guitar World and CBC q, spent the last few years becoming a mother of two children (boy, girl) while simultaneously strengthening her songwriting. And it was this exact motherhood journey that had presciently and artfully inspired this new track. "I call this song my existential lullaby," explains Echlo, who while recording under her original performance (and birth) name Chloe Charles, won a wide range of awards in Canada and the US over the last decade including the SiriusXM Best Soul/R&B Artist of the Year, John Lennon Songwriting Competition and the Harbourfront Centre's Soundclash Award given to the city of Toronto's best indie musician. "I wrote this song before ever having kids (my kids are three and two now). It was very early in my career when I was touring with violinist Davide Santi in Italy and we had a few days off in Milan and we're completely burned out. Davide had access to a near empty house so we closed ourselves in for a week and without any distractions we wrote tirelessly. When writing My Child, Davide told me to imagine myself as a strong mother sharing wisdom with my child. I closed my eyes and went deep inwards to find this voice. What came out was a song for my future children and for my own inner child."
